Below we are presenting you some possibilities of how to get to Lodz from the main airports in Poland (in Warsaw and Cracow).


How: bus + train + train
Cost: 35-45 PLN (7-10 €)
Duration: 3 hours approx.

1. After picking up your luggage, go into the main hall of the airport and look for the “Koleje Mazowieckie” stall (it has yellow and green colors). You have to purchase the Airport Ticket, which costs 19 PLN and it covers both bus and train trip.
2. Go outside and find the right platform, marked with the Koleje Mazowieckie sign, and enter your bus.
3. When you reach PKP Modlin railway station, change the bus into a train. (Buses and trains have yellow and green colors, so it is easy to find them.) The trip will take around 50 minutes.
4. Leave the train at Warsaw Central station. Buy the ticket to Lodz Fabryczna station. You can do it at the main hall, the ticket machines or online.

How: train + train
Cost: 25-35 PLN (5.5-8€)
Duration: 2.5 hours approx.

1. After picking up your luggage follow the signs to find the train station. You can buy the ticket in the ticket machine at the platform or inside the train, payment by card.
2. Take the SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska) train and leave at Warszawa Zachodnia station.
3. Change the platform and find the train to Lodz Fabryczna (unfortunately there are no lifts, so you will have to carry your luggage). Remember about the train ticket - the best will be to buy it online earlier.

How: bus + train
Cost: 25-35 PLN (5.5-8€)
Duration: 2.5 hours approx.

1. After picking up your luggage, leave the airport and take the bus to Pałac Kultury I Nauki (Palace of Culture and Science). While traveling in the day (04:27 am to 10:58 pm) take the bus 175 or in the night N32. You can buy the ticket on the bus.
2. Walk to Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw Central station) and take the train to Lodz Fabryczna. Buy the ticket to Lodz Fabryczna station. You can do it in the ticket counters, the ticket machines, or online.

How: bus + train
Cost: 40-70 PLN (9-16€)
Duration: 5 hours approx.

1. Go outside the airport and find the bus stop. During the day choose the 208 bus and during the night 902 bus. (Waiting time for the bus is 1 hour; you can buy the ticket inside.)
2. Walk to the Kraków Main Station. Take the train to Lodz Fabryczna or Lodz Widzew station (buy the ticket at the ticket counters or online).

How: train + train
Cost: 40-70 PLN (9-16€)
Duration: 4-5 hours approx.

1. Walk to the Kraków Airport station, located near the passenger terminal. Take the train to Kraków Główny Station. (The train is available from 5:18 am to 12:15 am.; you can buy the ticket inside the train)
2. Change the platform and take the train to Lodz Fabryczna or Lodz Widzew station.

 

Useful tips:

  • Buying a bus ticket is not enough, you must also validate it inside the bus when you get on, otherwise, you might get fined by inspectors.
  • Buses are a cheap option, but with a limited amount of space for your luggage.
  • Most ticket machines accept only card payment.
  • Avoid EIP trains - they are expensive.
  • Remember to buy the Intercity (IC) train ticket in advance - because of Covid regulations, it is not possible to enter these trains without a valid ticket.
  • Download the Koleo app to buy the tickets for the trains, except Intercity trains - for these you need the Intercity app.
